To be held at the Napanee Lions Club hall on Centre St. in the town of Napanee Ont. The hall can be reached from Hwy. 401 by taking the Hwy. 41 interchange at Napanee and proceeding south on Hwy. 41 (Centre St.), through the town, over the Napanee River, through the next set of traffic lights and proceed approximately 100 yards on your left to the auction site.
We are pleased to offer by public auction the personal collection of Mavis Perkins and the late Bob Perkins of Mississauga former proprietor of the long-standing shop R.G. Perkins Antiques in Toronto.
Auction includes an iconic Quebec diamond point armoire, several "book" pieces, early portraits, French faience and Continental "Delft" ceramics, sculpture, folk art and related accessories.
Furniture: Pine harvest table, set of Newfoundland side chairs with fan carved crests, Quebec blanket chest in paint (Fleming page 139), several pine diamond point armoires including a mid-18th century example with variegated diamond point panels on doors and sides (84 points in total) and original paint illustrated in colour (page 58) in Jean Palardy's 1963 The Early Furniture of French Canada, Quebec armchair in paint (Fleming page 73), small V chest in paint, oak candle stand, jointed stool, French table with flame finial, several late 19th century upholstered armchairs, Twiss clock in original paint, rare 18th century Quebec Os-de-mouton upholstered bench, two-door armoire in original grain painted surface, Ile d'Orleans sidechair in blue paint, Windsor sackback rocker, Ursuline style 18th century Quebec buffet, pine corner cupboard with glazed upper door, pine demi-lune table, raised panel buffet, pine chair table, carved blanket chest in pine, etc.
Paintings: Krieghoff genre "moccasin seller", several portraits including girl holding flowers (New Brunswick Baxter family), pastel of boy with cat (Hospital General Quebec), oil on canvas of a magistrate, oil on canvas of sea captain, oil of Upper Canada winter scene after Wm. Bartlett, hand-coloured 18th century English equestrian engravings, 1758 engraving of Hans Holbein by E. Bartolozzt, original sketch by Frederick Arthur Verner Indian Head, watercolour Le gardien de l'Ile des Oiseaux (ex Adam Haynes), watercolour of canoe shooting rapids circa 1845, habitant with pipe, oil on panel of locomotive (exhibited Sigmund Samuel gallery 1971), etc.
Folk art: Early rooster weathervane with original surface, several carved frames, document boxes, hooked rug of geese by Mme Joyal, carved bible box, 19th century copper running horse (Black Hawk) weathervane with verdigris surface, table "penny" rug, exceptionally carved slide-top candle box, carved birds by Damase Richard, carved cow, carved and gilded laurel wreath, carved moose, relief carved wall plaques, carved pine alter candlestick, 20th century copper rooster weathervane by Pius Beck, owl sculpture, small carved tugboat, etc.
Miscellaneous: Miniature brass cannon, early andirons with brass finials, hand forged 19th century chandelier, carved cherub heads, Early French faience and "Delft" ceramics, spongeware, exceptional large Dion redware bowl, brass bathroom fixtures from Royal York Hotel ca 1929, early soapstone Inuit carving of Canada goose, stable lantern, twig tables, child's collar-back rocker in paint, book Patents of Canada 1821-1849, first edition, etc.
