I have been asked by Vi Lambert to begin the down sizing of the Lambert Collection, put together over the last 50 plus years by Vi and her late husband Rob who was a collector and a co-founder of the Bowmanville Antique and Folk Art show, the collection represents a microscopic view of Antiques as we know and collect them in Canada. Fields of interest to be offered in this auction are early lighting to coal oil, painted country furniture to include an early pine desk in original finish, (see pain pl. #694) and a Markham chest of drawers similar Pain pl #1147 and a cradle shown in Pain pl # 1197, glass and stone ware marbles, a collection of chalk ware, early soft paste china, ironstone to include both the “Canadian” pattern and the “Dominion” pattern with the distinctive beaver finials, stone ware to include decorated examples and several Bowmanville merchant crocks, pottery dogs attributed to Picton, red ware, oil paintings and water colours, treen ware to include a large handled burl bowl shown in Pain pl. #582 and a group of the best butter prints I’ve seen in years, textiles including hooked rugs, both old and contemporary folk art with examples by Art Gallant, cast iron door stops and cast iron banks including both still and mechanical, deed and document boxes, band boxes, wall boxes including an example shown in Pain pl # 803 and another similar to one shown in Pain pl # 818, blanket boxes, lamp tables including a wonderful birds eye maple tapered leg lamp table with inlays in the top, sides and legs C1830, plus numerous other articles of interest.
