Important Auction Sale of Red Ware, Antique Furnishings and Accessories

To be held at the Puslinch Township Community Centre at Aberfoyle, Ont., located south of Guelph. Take HWY # 401 to Exit # 299, Road # 46 ( Brock Rd. ) Go North towards Guelph 1-1/2 miles to Aberfoyle, the hall is 1/2 km north of the Aberfoyle Antique Market, watch for auction signs.

 

We have been asked by Lorne Eede of St. Marys Ontario, to sell his pottery collection consisting of over 150 lots of mainly red ware with a smattering of yellow ware and stoneware from early Canadian potteries in both Ontario and Quebec. Lorne was actively collecting twenty-five years ago when many fine and rare forms of red ware were surfacing regularly and he was connected to important sources like and Gerald Fagan and John Forbes. His early collection was in spittoons but his interest soon expanded to integral saucer flower pots, plates, water and batter pitchers and rare and unusual forms to include a red ware harvest ring, double handled water bottle, etc. 

In addition to the pottery we will offer from other central and south western Ontario collections a variety of antiques and collectables to include duck decoys, furniture, textiles, clocks, etc., in order to be able to offer a balanced, interesting day’s sale for all.

 

Some of the potters and potteries represented in the collection are Eby, Bierenstihl, Burkhardt, Schuler, Ahrens, Ignatz Bitschy, Lemon, Egmondville, Homesville, Mildmay, Brantford, Glass Bros., Wagner and Dion, etc.

 

In addition to the pottery we will offer a small collection of quality Ontario duck decoys, to include such carvers as Davy Nichol, Reg Bloom, Rupert Davis, Harve Davern, Burleigh Bros., Dan Wigle, Buck Crawford, Wil Smith, Adam Yearwood, Percy Bovey, Shannon Crier, Ferman Eyre, etc.,

 

In the field of furniture we will offer a rare tavern table from Waterloo County C. 1800, a grandfather clock from Middlesex County (see Pain plate #757), a rare Eli Terry carved pillar and crest clock specially ordered for a Canadian customer with a coat of arms.Ca. 1820, a mid 19th century Waterloo County shrank in original graining (see Pain plate # 1034) and another with outstanding grained finish, an exceptional grain painted blanket chest with two side by side drawers and another with cut out base, original paint and pin striping decoration, an early Windsor rocker in old paint, blanket chests, pail benches, one and two drawer lamp tables, in addition to collectible china and glass, paintings and prints, wooden ware, native baskets and quill work, coal oil lighting, etc.

 

Terms: Cash, cheque with two forms if ID, Visa, MasterCard and Interac.

            A 10% buyer’s premium will be applied to the hammer price.

 

A catalogue will be available from the auctioneer at a cost of $18.00, which will include a price key.
